Queen Helene Mint Julep Natural Facial Scrub Review
Being someone with darker skin and a history of battling facial issues, particularly pesky hyperpigmentation, I've tried more skincare products than I can count. Seriously, if it's a cosmetic promising to fix facial flaws, I've given it a shot.
Acne has been my nemesis since my teenage years. You know that classic line adults feed you, "Don’t worry, you'll grow out of it"? Well, for me and millions of others, that's just not the case. Adult acne is like having unwelcome guests crashing a party on your face, especially if you care about your appearance. Nobody wants a breakout stealing the spotlight on their forehead.
So, what's the first move when faced with a breakout? Booking an expensive dermatologist appointment? Nah, most of us head straight to the skincare aisle, desperately scanning for products promising to banish spots. And let's be real, in today's digital age, a quick consultation with Dr. Google is often our go-to move.
In my pursuit of clear skin, I've tried a ton of products, and I'm here to spill the tea on one of them.

Product Manufacturer
It's made by an American company called Queen Helene, founded by chemist Richard Estrin between the 1920s and 1930s. Queen Helene is crafted under the umbrella of The Hain Celestial Group, Inc. This company isn't just about skincare—it's a global player in the realm of both food and personal care. Think natural foods and organic personal-care goodies. Description Of the Chemicals
How To Use
"Cleanse face and neck thoroughly Apply Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque generously and allow to dry for about 15 minutes Remove with warm water Pat your face dry "
Why I Was Drawn to It
Back in 2015, what drew me to this scrub was its use of natural ingredients. Queen Helene is pretty transparent about what goes into their products, which I appreciate. The Mint Julep Facial Scrub boasts deep-cleaning abilities, claiming to unclog pores and banish impurities. Sounds like just what the doctor ordered for acne-prone skin, right? But hold up, let's check out those ingredients.
My Experience
Compared to other scrubs I've tried, this one didn't leave my skin feeling like the Sahara desert. However, if you overdo it (like using it more than once a day), expect some dryness. This isn't so much about the ingredients as it is about the scrub's coarse texture. It's got glycerin, which can help moisturize, but those gritty particles can be a bit much, especially if you've got active acne. I found it best to use it at night to avoid irritating any existing breakouts.
The scrub's fragrance-free, which is a win in my book. But it does have a faint minty scent. Luckily, it didn't make my acne worse or trigger any breakouts, which tells me it's got a good balance of ingredients and won't clog pores.
Final Verdict
If you've got acne-prone or sensitive skin, I'd give this scrub a thumbs up—but use it more for maintenance (a couple of times a week) rather than a daily treatment for active acne.
